Frankly, I don't know much about you, so it would be cool if you introduce yourself to our readers. Please take a moment and tell a bit about yourself, where you from, your job, and other vital information :)
well...my name is Peter and i'm 28 years old by now...I started playing music around my 8 in a local paradeband playing a horn...I bought a bassguitar at my 13th and started playing in a couple of noise and black metal bands...then in 1996 I decided to do everything on my own, first as BLOOD UNDER THE ICE and later as MATERIALSCHLACHT (with which I released 2 CDR's, 1 7"-EP and 1 LP so far)...In 2000 a German guy asked me to help him with his project A CHALLENGE OF HONOUR and so I did, he quit himself after 2 months. Now I released 3 cd's, almost 3 10" EP's and 3 7" EP's with it and I'm currently working on some new releases.
I was told that you have some relation to Above the Ruins. Is that correct?
That is indeed correct....I started Above The Ruins 4 years ago but I'm thinking of quitting it because I haven't the time anymore to maintain it.
For how long you create music? What has influenced you to start writing music... some say we experience days when music writers are as many as music listeners :)
I already spoke about that in the first question....Everybody can make music that is true...so why not...let them do it. I really hate people who are just standing at the site complaining...so it yourself...get rich!
When do you expect your new album and who will release it?
Monuments will be released on Steinklang Records in November....I started working on it...It will sound different from the early work...more 80's old school industrial....Oradour Sur Glanes will be out on Divine Comedy in September.
Almost every your album was released in limited edition. Is that because you like "collectors" releases or it happens because it's hard to find a label for a new album?
I don't think that 850 copies or 1000 copies are limited editions...as for the lim.edits of Divine Comedy and so...that is mostly the idea of record label to give the people something extra...I hardly have problems of finding record labels for my releases.
Your album The Right Place has a song Magadan. Is that song dedicated to Russian city Magadan?
Yes, it's dedicated to the Russian City of Magadan.
Every your album deals with WWII. You say that your music spreads anti-war message, but you tell about German side of the war - Wilhelm Gustloff, Dresden, etc. To me those "horrors of war" are portrayed a bit one-sided. Do you plan to talk about Russian/ French/ English victims? For example, Russia hasn't started this war but it lost much more in it. Belarus, my homecountry, was totally ruined in WWII and it lost every third. Have you ever seen a village that was burned to ashes together with it's people? More than a thousand villages were burned to the ground in Belarus... Even today, 60-ty years after the war the population here is not as big as it used to be before WWII.
The Right Place had no war song at all...Aurore de Gloire was about the french in WW1 and the third 10" will be about a French village of Oradour Sur Glanes... I also tried to give the Germans not the (so often) bad side treatment, they also had victims, civilians who did not had the choice to be bombed out or raped...just as the Russian or other nations...the Dutch population also has suffered under the German occupation you know...we also had destroyed villages and bombed cities. Oradour Sur Glanes will be the last release that will deal with WW2.
